  • 2,000 free seats starting in fall 2026
  • Program expanding to 12,000 seats in fall 2027

January 2026

The most significant child care expansion in New York’s history

We secured a historic commitment from Governor Hochul and Mayor Mamdani to put New York on a path to free universal child care, including:

  • A statewide free Pre-K guarantee, expanding to universal for all 4-year-olds by 2028
  • The launch of free 2-K in NYC
  • $100 million to repair NYC’s 3-K program
  • Free child care pilots for 3,000+ 0-3-year-olds across three NY counties

June 2025

$10M for free universal care for 0-to-2-year-olds

We won a pilot program providing hundreds of free seats for the youngest children in NYC, starting in January 2026.

  • Free, non-means-tested seats for hundreds of 0-to-2-year-olds in New York City
  • The first expansion of free universal child care in New York since 2018

May 2025

Saved universal 3-K in NYC

When free 3-K was on the chopping block, parents organized to defend it — and won permanent funding to keep the program intact for good.

  • $167 million in permanent, baselined funding for NYC 3-K
  • New funding for outreach and family access

Since 2019

Built a statewide movement

What started as a handful of parents is now a citywide force for elected leaders to reckon with.

  • Grew to 12,000+ parents and supporters
  • Organized rallies and coordinated constituent outreach across the city
  • Made universal child care a top issue in NYC’s 2025 election

This is what organizing wins.
